Title: Get Down Artist: Opportunist 289 plays

Opportunist // [Tape Demo]

I know the situation all too well and I’m pretty sure that you do too. A friend drops the dreaded phrase, “Hey! You should check out my [fill in the blank]!” Whether it’s music, a screenplay, or (God forbid) a poem; you instantly begin to panic. It’s not that you don’t want to check it out, you’re just afraid that if it sucks you’ll have to lie your butt off.

Last week a pal of mine (albeit and online one) named Drew Martin sent me a link to check out his new band Opportunist. Not gonna lie, I felt the pangs. But then I listened to the handful of tape demos they had on their Bandcamp and I sighed a major sigh of relief. It was at that point that I started buggin’ because, you guessed it, Opportunist is really great! And not even in a “You should check out my friend’s band!” sort of way, but in a down-and-dirty, grungy, punk rock sort of way. There is so much potential here; it’s aggressive, it smolders, it’s a bit on the weird side, and it has just enough groove to maybe make you bob your head a bit. Really stoked on these guys, make sure you check take a minute and check them out.
